DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF Blood Bank Officer

 

The following will be the duties and responsibilities of Blood Bank Tech.:

Donor recruitment and retention to maintain an adequate supply of various blood types.

• Donor selection and physical examination.

• Review of donor questionnaire and consent with all particulars.

• Monitoring phlebotomy and post-donation status of donors.

• Explaining to the donors about TTD.

• Counseling of HIV, HBsAg,,, and HCV seropositive donors confidently

• To review and approve SOPs and procedures.

• To review and monitor record-keeping system, stocks, equipment validation and maintenance programs,, and equipment calibration records.

• Checking results of blood grouping, compatibility testing, antibody screening tests, and transtransfers-onsmitted diseases.

• Monitoring of quality control tests on blood grouping reagents, TTD screening kits, hemoglobin, and temperature of fridges, water baths, and see too, logical rotators.

• Monitoring the disposal of HIV, HBsAg, HCV, VDRL, and Malarial parasite-positive bags.

• To review, conduct and arrange training programs for techniciatechniciansct periodic reinforcement training for nurses and doctors to ensure correct blood ordering and transfusion practices.

• To conduct the meetings of the transfusion Committee to monitor the quality of blood and its components.

• Monitoring the whole process of blood collection, storage, testing, and issue till disposal of empty bags.

• Maintaining the records of transfusion reactions and transfusion-transmitted diseases and review of these cases.

• Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports of the blood bank.

• Monitoring the cleanliness and fumigation of the blood bank.

• Oversee the preparation of the Duty Roster for the Technicians.

• Conducting the Proficiency Tests for the technical staff.
