C.T, X-RAY, Technician Job description
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all the activities of the Department.
On receiving the investigation form, from the reception the CT technician shall consult the radiologist for any special instruction for conducting the CT of the patient.
In case of patient requiring intra venous contrast consent form to be signed by the patient; in case patient is infirm, relative of the patient to sign the form.
The senior C.T. technician shall ensure that all drugs, instruments and devices are available and functional on the emergency trolley as per laid down instructions.
Patients shall be called into the CT room by the technician when their preparation is complete. The technician shall ask the patients to remove any metallic objects in their pockets or tied to their body. Any metallic valuables will be handed over to an accompanying relative of the patient.
For children and other patients requiring constant attention an attendant shall also be permitted into the CT room. The technician will provide the attendant with a lead apron and ensure this is worn during the scan.
The technician shall provide the patient with a clean gown and direct the patient to change into the gown.
In case where intravenous contrast is to be administered, the technician shall load the contrast into 50 ml syringes or into the syringe of the pressure injector while performing the angiographic study.
On completion of the scan, the technician ensures that the radiologist views the scan on monitor before the patient is asked to get up from the CT table.
Out patients shall be asked to sit in the waiting area and report any adverse symptoms they may feel. The IV cannula shall be removed after completion of the scan if the patient does not experience any adverse effects.
After the scan the technician shall format the images on the film and print these. The hard copies shall be collected from the camera, placed in an envelope along with the investigation form and put up for reporting to the radiologist.
Maintenance of all C.T. records i.e. patient’s reports, stock register, quality control, equipment log etc.
Indenting films, contrast, needles, syringes etc. from stores.
Provide monthly stock report and consumption report at month end.
To ensure effective participation in hospital training program and to update medical knowledge.
To ensure proper and effective implementation of Hospital Infection Control Policy.
Any other medical related work as assigned by Medical Superintendent.
